Basin-Scale 3D Sedimentary Modelling: An Approach to Subdivide Baltic Sea Onshore Sediments for Land use and Construction

چکیده

Abstract Understanding the local stratigraphy and geometry of sediment units is necessary for successful 3D modelling prediction ground behaviour engineering-geological properties urban land use construction. A detailed model main Rastaala basin in southern coastal Finland was constructed, combining a conceptual geological information from drill-hole logs geotechnical drilling. The based on cross-section approach, where were defined basis lithological boundaries that are major importance sequence events characterize late- postglacial evolution basin. present study combines allostratigraphy lithostratigraphy unconsolidated glacial, late-and Finland. It also investigates appearance distribution compares visualization results unit surfaces solids using two independent software packages. Finally, different provided so they can be applied to other onshore regions with similar settings Baltic Sea Basin.

The land use changes study and precipitation-runoff modelling using HEC-HMS, Case Study: Babolrood basin

Abstract Change in land use pattern influenced hydrological processes in basin and disrupt the normal balance of water flow. In the present research, hydrological parameters change of Babul Rod watershed basin has been that investigated concluded of land use changes in 1988 and 2009. To determine land use changes of Babul Rod watershed basin we has recruited TM satellite images 1988(1367) year ...

Participatory land use modelling, pathways to an integrated approach

The increasing adoption of land use models in planning and policy development highlights the need for an integrated approach that combines analytical modelling techniques with discursive ‘soft-science’ methodologies. Recent scientific contributions to the discipline have tended to focus on analytical problems such as statistical assessment of model goodness of fit through map comparison techniq...

Land cover classification using SPOT Vegetation 10-day composite images – Baltic Sea catchment basin

A classified land cover map has been created covering the northern and central portions of Europe with emphasis on the Baltic Sea catchment basin. The classification was based on 10-day composite, low-resolution SPOT VGT satellite images acquired between May and September 2000. Classification was completed using algorithms designed to systematically compare the satellite data with much higher r...

Land-Use Change Modelling in the Upper Blue Nile Basin

Land-use and land-cover changes are driving unprecedented changes in ecosystems and environmental processes at different scales. This study was aimed at identifying the potential land-use drivers in the Jedeb catchment of the Abbay basin by combining statistical analysis, field investigation and remote sensing. To do so, a land-use change model was calibrated and evaluated using the SITE (SImul...

Hypoxia in the Baltic Sea and basin-scale changes in phosphorus biogeochemistry.

Deep-water oxygen concentrations in the Baltic Sea are influenced by eutrophication, but also by saltwater inflows from the North Sea. In the last two decades, only two major inflows have been recorded and the lack of major inflows is believed to have resulted in a long-term stagnation of the deepest bottom water. Analyzing data from 1970 to 2000 at the basin scale, we show that the estimated v...
